President of United Kingdom Tang Soo Do Federation, Moo Duk Kwan
Grandmaster Kang Uk Lee was born on 24th. August in the Seoul, Korea He joined Moo Duk Kwan in 1949 and graduated to 1st. Dan in 1952. In 1956 he became a Tang Soo Do Instructor at the Military Police HQ, Seoul, the Ma Po Gym, Seoul and Kon Gook (Jong Chi) University, Seoul. Between 1957 and 1962 he instructed at the Korean Air Force Academy. Between 1964 and 1972 he graduated to 7th Dan, held the position of Director of the Korean Soo Bahk Do Association and was Chief Judge at the 1st World Tang Soo Do and 5th Asian Tang Soo Do Championships. Later as a 7th Dan, he was based in Malaysia and became Chief instructor for South - East Asia.
Grandmaster Li founded the Brunei and Singapore Tang Soo Do Associations in 1973 and then repeated this double performance with the Federation of Malaysia Tang Soo Do Organisations and the United Kingdom Tang Soo (Soo Bahk) Do Federation in 1974. After becoming President and Chief Instructor of the U.K. Tang Soo Do Federation in 1975, he then founded the European Tang Soo Do Federation in 1976. (The European Federation dissolved in 1989.)
The 1st International Tang Soo Do Championships were held in the U.K. in 1978 with Grandmaster Li as the Chief Judge. The International Tang Soo (Soo Bahk) Do Federation was officially created as a body in 1989 by the Grandmaster.
In 1989, the Grandmaster was promoted to 9th. Dan.
During the nineties, the Grandmaster has concentrated on growing the membership of the International Tang Soo Do Federation. This has included welcoming in new member clubs from all over the world and regularising the I.T.S.D.F. Championships
